At True, we’re on a mission to create a world of healthier people.
True Protein was born out of a desire to empower our community in living energetic and fulfilled lives. Since 2014, we have pioneered a new standard in health and performance products, delivering natural, authentic and transparent products without compromise.
This all begins within our own True Team, a high performing group of like-minded individuals who truly believe in and strive to embody our company values in all that we do, both in our personal and professional lives. Australian owned but looking to conquer the world, we are continuously growing our team with creative and community-minded people.
About the role
True Protein is seeking a Senior QA Specialist to take ownership of our quality function and contribute to the continued growth and success of our organisation. This hands‑on role is pivotal in ensuring our products meet or exceed the highest industry standards, driving continuous improvement, and fostering a culture of quality excellence across the site.
As a key member in our Product Innovation & Technical Affairs Team, you will drive the day‑to‑day priorities of the QA function, ensuring compliance, driving continuous improvement, and maintaining the highest quality standards across the site.
It is a full‑time role, onsite 5 days per week with flexible hours.
What your day to day will look like
Quality Systems & Compliance
- Maintain and continuously improve our Quality Management System (QMS) in line with GMP, HACCP, and WHS requirements.
- Own the full quality lifecycle: product release, deviations, investigations, CAPAs,
change controls, customer complaints, and out‑of‑spec results.
- Oversee the preparation, review, and maintenance of batch documentation, protocols, validation records, and controlled documents to support GMP compliance and traceability.
Internal Audits & Supplier Quality
- Lead and support internal, external, and supplier audits and regulatory inspections, following through on corrective actions.
- Manage vendor qualification and supplier quality assurance activities.
- Align QA priorities with broader business and departmental goals, adjusting focus as needs evolve.
- Review and refine our Food Safety & Quality Plan to keep it fit for purpose as the business grows.
- Lead root cause investigations and risk assessments, and propose practical, risk‑based solutions.
- Track and report on quality metrics and KQIs, providing guidance across the team.
Operational QA
- Perform in‑process quality assurance (IPQA) activities to ensure product and process compliance.
- Oversee product handling, storage, distribution, retention samples, and site calibration programs.
- Oversee product testing programs (microbiological, physical, chemical).
What you’ll bring to the team
- Tertiary qualification in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field highly regarded; equivalent hands‑on QA experience will also be highly valued.
- 3‑5 years’ experience in food and beverage manufacturing, with hands‑on QA experience.
- Proven experience managing deviations, investigations, and corrective actions.
- Solid working knowledge of FSANZ, HACCP, GMP, and other relevant quality accreditation frameworks.
- Experience preparing or reviewing technical documentation, including product specifications, artwork, and compliance documents.
- High attention to detail and strong problem‑solving skills, with the ability to work to tight deadlines without compromising accuracy.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills, with a track record of managing competing priorities.
- Strong communication and relationship‑building skills, with a solutions‑oriented mindset that balances internal and external stakeholder needs.
- Genuine curiosity about how AI can streamline quality processes — you don't need to be an expert, but you should be someone who actively looks for smarter ways to work.
