Geotechnical Engineer
WSP’s Geotechnics & Tunnels team plays a critical role in some of Australia’s most complex and high‑profile infrastructure projects. We are looking for a Geotechnical Engineer to plan and deliver investigations, interpret data, prepare reports and support design and proposal work across projects from early investigations to construction.
Responsibilities
- Planning and delivering geotechnical investigations, including site reconnaissance, fieldwork, sampling, logging and in‑situ testing
- Interpreting geotechnical data and contributing to design recommendations and risk assessments
- Preparing technical reports and supporting design documentation for small to medium projects
- Working closely with senior engineers and project managers on investigation scoping, methodologies and project delivery
- Supporting proposals and tenders, including technical inputs and cost estimates
- Collaborating within multidisciplinary teams and engaging directly with clients on technical queries and project updates
- Providing guidance to technicians and junior team members in both field and office environments
Qualifications
- A degree in Civil, Geotechnical or Geological Engineering (or equivalent)
- 2+ years’ experience in geotechnical engineering or a related discipline
- Solid field experience, including soil logging, sampling and site investigations
- Exposure to investigation techniques such as CPTs, boreholes, test pits and in‑situ testing
- Well‑developed analytical skills and the ability to interpret geotechnical data
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with experience contributing to technical reports
- A current Australian driver’s licence and willingness to travel to project sites as required
- Eligibility for (or progress toward) Engineers Australia membership
