Counsellor – Family Abuse Integrated Response (FAIR) Men's Behaviour Change Program

About the role
We are offering a permanent part-time role of Case Manager/Counsellor to join our Family Abuse Integrated Response (FAIR) Men's Behaviour Change Program at our Gosnells office. This role provides individual counselling, case management and risk assessment for men who use family and domestic violence, supporting accountability and positive behaviour change.
The position provides counselling within an accountability framework with men who use violence including intake and assessment, safety planning, referral and care coordination, and occasional co-facilitation of Men's Behaviour Change Program groups alongside a Lead Facilitator. The current vacancy is 15 hours per week.
The position involves
- Undertaking screening for suitability for the service, assessment and safety planning.
- Providing therapeutic individual counselling and psychoeducation using evidence-based practice
- Responding to and managing any situations regarding risk to clients or staff.
- Providing case management services such as referrals, information, strategies and resources.
- Maintaining client records including perpetrator behaviour pattern documentation.
- Build relationships with community services and engage in networking to promote the service and link client in with supports and services.
The FAIR Men’s Behaviour Change Program is structured weekly group sessions for men. Responsibilities include some co-facilitating of groups alongside a lead facilitator.
Skills, experience, and qualifications
- Qualification in Psychology, Social Work,
Counselling or another relevant Social Science discipline.
- Demonstrated experience and sound knowledge of family and domestic violence theory and practice.
- Experience undertaking risk assessments, psychosocial assessments, case management and evidence-based counselling.
- Experience working with men who use violence and/or facilitating therapeutic or behaviour change groups (highly regarded).
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and client records documentation
- The ability to work collaboratively while managing a diverse caseload.
- Culturally sensitive practice
- Current WA Driver's Licence, access to a reliable vehicle and a current National Police Clearance.
