Position Information

Grose View Public School (GVPS) is located on Dharug land in the picturesque Grose Valley, nestled at the foot of the Blue Mountains. Our school was established in 1976 and currently has an enrolment of 279 students. GVPS school enjoys a close and productive relationship with its parents, community groups and neighbouring schools. We have a positive school culture with a diverse range of students, who love learning beyond the classroom and about the world around them. We currently have only a small percentage of students who speak a language other than English, however, we have a significantly higher proportion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students enrolled at the school. We currently have 24 students (9%) identifying as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.

GVPS have been focusing resourcing towards deeply embedding structures across the school to drive continual school improvement in student academic achievement, specifically in Literacy and Numeracy. GVPS have identified a need to strengthen and deeply embed our data driven practices that ensure all students have access to stage-appropriate learning. Further work will need to occur around how teachers can successfully plan for and deliver quality differentiated instruction to support all students, including those identified as high potential and gifted.

The Parents and Citizens (P&C;) Association is a highly supportive and active partner in the school,



working collaboratively with the principal and staff to enhance learning opportunities and support the school's strategic priorities. The P&C; plays an important role in fostering strong partnerships between home and school, contributing to decision-making and promoting a shared commitment to student success. This strong congruence between home and school creates a positive learning culture where students are supported to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

Specific Selection Criteria

- Approval to teach. In addition to the general selection criteria,
- Demonstrated dynamic and strategic leadership in embedding student voice, agency and engagement across all aspects of school life. Experience in leading authentic student participation in learning and school improvement, ensuring students are active partners in shaping their educational experiences.
- A highly visible, approachable, and strategically minded leader with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills who builds trust, establishes shared purpose, and strengthen a cohesive school community aligned to the school’s strategic directions to deliver sustained impact.
- Demonstrated strong educational leadership to equip and empower teachers to effectively deliver evidence informed pedagogy, including explicit teaching and high potential gifted education, with a focus on continuous improvement for every learner.

General Selection Criteria

- 6 . Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policy and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people

The classification and remuneration of our school principals is based on school complexity, as measured through each school’s RAM allocation. As part of the ongoing application of the new structure a review of thresholds and outcomes will occur on an annual basis.The principal classification for this school is Principal Level P1 for 2026.
