About The Role

National Intermodal is seeking a Cost Manager to join our PMO team in Sydney CBD. Reporting to the Head of Cost, Estimating & Reporting, you will be responsible for the development and execution of cost control processes across National Intermodal's portfolio of infrastructure projects. This is a client-side role that sits at the heart of how we plan, monitor and control project costs, ensuring financial alignment with approved budgets and the annual corporate plan.

What You'll Be Doing

- Develop and maintain detailed project cost plans across all phases from initiation through to delivery, monitoring budgeted costs against actuals, identifying variances and implementing corrective actions to keep projects on track.
- Manage final forecast cost and cash flow reporting, ensuring financial alignment with approved delivery milestones and the annual corporate budget, collaborating closely with Contract & Procurement, Finance and Delivery teams.
- Prepare and distribute monthly cost reports including trend forecasting, contract performance analysis and recommendations for cost efficiencies, supported by regular cost review workshops with key stakeholders.
- Act as an advanced user of National Intermodal's cost management system, Ecosys.




- Drive data integrity, system optimisation and support other project cost managers in adopting and utilising the cost management system effectively.
- Support the design, configuration and continuous improvement of standardised cost management frameworks within Ecosys, including system updates, data migrations and integrations with other corporate platforms.
- Provide expert-level troubleshooting and functional training to internal staff on system features and reporting processes, contributing to a high-performing and capable PMO cost function.
- Support the change control process by evaluating cost impacts of scope changes, variations and claims, and identify, assess and mitigate cost risk throughout the project lifecycle.

About You

- Degree in Engineering or a related discipline along with a certification in Project Management, PRINCE2 or PMI would be an advantage.
- Proven experience as a client-side Cost Engineer or Manager on large-scale government led infrastructure projects, with a strong track record in cost control, estimating and PMO delivery environments.
- Advanced Ecosys skills, specifically within a portfolio-wide implementation or configuration context, with the ability to support others in system adoption.
- Background in both portfolio and project-level cost reporting, including managing system of record transitions and developing standardised cost management processes.
- Advanced Excel skills with excellent analytical and problem-solving capability, strong attention to detail and effective communication and presentation skills.
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and a genuine commitment to continuous improvement, in your own work and in the processes and systems around you.
