Expression of Interest - Independent Chair, Northern Hub Advisory Group

The Northern Western Australia and Northern Territory Drought Resilience Adoption and Innovation Hub (Northern Hub) is one of eight national Drought Resilience Adoption and Innovation Hubs established through the Australian Government's Future Drought Fund.

The Northern Hub brings together industry, researchers, government agencies, service providers and community organisations to support drought and climate resilience across northern Australia. Through collaboration, innovation and knowledge sharing, the Hub works to strengthen the long‑term sustainability of regional industries and communities across the Northern Territory and northern Western Australia.

Hosted by Charles Darwin University, the Northern Hub works with a broad network of partners and stakeholders to deliver activities that respond to regional priorities and emerging challenges.

About the Role

The Northern Hub is seeking an Independent Chair for its Advisory Group.

The Advisory Group provides a forum for sharing perspectives, identifying opportunities and challenges, and offering strategic advice to support the Hub's activities and future direction. The group does not have a governance or decision‑making role.

The Chair will facilitate Advisory Group meetings, encourage open and constructive discussion, and help ensure all members have the opportunity to contribute their expertise and perspectives.

Working closely with the Hub Director, the Chair will support a collaborative and inclusive workplace that enables the Advisory Group to provide meaningful advice and insights.

This is a fixed term appointment for 1 year, remunerated as per NT Government Remuneration and Entitlements for Class C2 Boards. The Advisory Group is expected to meet at least three times, with meetings held online and occasionally in person.

About You

We are seeking an individual who is well connected, respected, and experienced in administering good governance. Applicants must be independent of the Future Drought Fund, Northern Hub, and Northern Hub’s partner organisations.

You will bring:

An understanding of the issues, opportunities and priorities affecting regional and rural communities in northern Australia.

Experience working across industry, government, research, community or First Nations sectors.

Strong communication and facilitation skills.

The ability to foster constructive discussion and bring together diverse perspectives.

Experience chairing meetings, committees, advisory groups or similar forums.

The Northern Hub is committed to ensuring a diversity of perspectives and encourages expressions of interest from individuals with experience across industry, research, government, community and First Nations sectors.

Submissions will be received until COB Monday 3 August 2026.
