Position Objective

To provide support and guidance to Foster Care Case Workers, Carers and Clients whilst ensuring correct practices are undertaken in accordance with relevant policy and legislation.

Main Duties And Responsibilities

Promote AC Needs Based Restorative Framework (NBRF) culture and work to NBRF idealsProvide leadership, direction and supervision to Case Workers, Youth Support Workers and Foster CarersProvide strategic direction and interpreting of the goals of the service in day-to-day functions and tasksParticipate in the development of long-term strategic goals for departmental programsCollaborate with external agenciesSupport Case Workers in developing Case Plans for clients and ensure these documents are updated to meet the individual needs of the clientEnsure all client review meetings are held at appropriate intervals as outlined by the Office of the Children’s Guardian (OCG)Ensure all reports are sent to Community Services (CS) and Aging Disability and Home Care (ADHC) in a timely mannerEnsure all Incident Reports are documented accuratelyCollaborate with the OCG and the NSW Office of the Ombudsman and to ensure all legal requirements are metParticipate in the development and review of departmental program policies and organisational policiesEnsure all AC policies and procedures are followed and communicated to Case Workers and Foster CarersEnsure any changes to AC policies and procedures are communicated and trained to Case Workers and Foster CarersEnsure all standards are met in accordance with the Children’s Guardian NSW Standards for Statutory Out-Of-Home-Care (OOHC)Coordinate and attend weekly departmental meetingsCoordinate supervision meetings and provide support and feedback to Case WorkersEnsure client files are maintained, accurate,



up-to-date and in line with OCGAttend critical incidentsTo ensure defusing of all involved staff and carers immediately after a critical incident and debriefing of staff following critical incidents where requiredAttend meetings both internal and external when requiredIdentify and communicate any program, client or employee issues to Department Director and/or Human ResourcesParticipate in recruitment and selection processes when requiredSupport and advise Case Workers and Foster Carers in developing strategies for clients and implementing these strategiesCoordinate and maintain OH&S; of all working environments including office and client housing settingsEnsure all Case Workers act in a professional and appropriate manner at all timesMaintain up-to-date knowledge on various client specific diagnoses and disabilitiesCoordinate and monitor all aspects of client Case Plans and Individual Plans ensuring that objectives are being worked towards or metAttend court and caution meetings with clients and Case WorkersParticipate and coordinate client grievance process and complaint meetingsLiaise with appropriate services to develop inter-agency protocols

Selection Criteria (Please address all points in your application)





Experience in the supervision and management of employeesTwo years working with children and young people in OOHC or in a foster care environmentExtensive experience in Microsoft Office ApplicationsKnowledge of NBRF concepts and strategiesNSW Driver’s LicenseComprehensive Insurance on Primary vehicle used for work purposes

Desirable

Desirable: Bachelor Degree (or working towards) in related discipline or equivalent.Demonstrated ability and/or experience in working with Children and young people with complex needs and challenging behaviour
