Assistant Venue Manager
The Railway Hotel, Fitzroy North

The Railway Hotel is looking for an experienced manager to join our team.

We're a down to earth neighbourhood pub open 7 days a week in Nicholson Street Village, Fitzroy North.

We have great food, loyal locals, a growing functions business, regular live music and a beer garden you can call home.

Our aim is to use our years of running independent pubs to create quality experiences for our guests and supportive workplaces for our teams.

About the Role

As Assistant Venue Manager, you'll work closely with the Venue Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the venue and help shape its future.

You'll help drive the overall success of the business through managing labour and stock, identifying opportunities for growth and delivering a high level of consistent customer service.

You'll be an integral part of recruitment and development of the team, and fostering a secure and productive workplace.

You'll work with the Venue Manager and marketing team to develop promotions, events and initiatives that build customer loyalty.

You’ll be someone who loves hospitality, will join us in creating a warm and friendly pub connected to its local community.

What We're Looking For

- At least two years' experience in a senior hospitality leadership role such as Senior Supervisor, Duty Manager or Assistant Venue Manager

- Strong food and beverage service experience in a quality hospitality environment

- Experience leading teams of 15–30 people during busy service periods

- A genuine passion for customer service and creating warm & welcoming punter experiences

- Experience with rostering, stock control, ordering and labour management

- Experience recruiting, onboarding and developing team members

- Experience in promoting and maintaining workplace standards, policies and procedures

- Strong beer,



wine and spirits knowledge

- Confidence changing kegs and troubleshooting basic cellar issues

- A sound understanding of liquor licensing requirements and workplace health and safety

- Experience coordinating and delivering quality functions, events or gigs

- The ability to stay calm and organised

Essential Requirements

- Current Victorian RSA

- Availability to work a rotating roster including nights, weekends and public holidays

Bonus Points For

- First Aid Certificate

- Advanced RSA

- Food Safety Supervisor Certificate

- Additional hospitality qualifications or training
