About Chermside Day Hospital
Chermside Day Hospital features specialised, purpose-built facilities, high quality equipment, and is self-sufficient. Facilities include state-of-the-art operating theatres and procedure rooms, a spacious Post Anaesthesia Care (Recovery) Unit, comfortable Second Stage recovery room and well-appointed consulting suites. The hospital also features a self-contained sterilizing department and endoscope processing service.
We are seeking a Nurse Educator to assist the Hospital CEO/DoN in ensuring the delivery of high-quality Nurse Education and to act as a resource person for all nurses on a part-time basis.
As part of the Chermside Day Hospital (CHE) team the Nurse Educator provides staff with appropriate orientation, mandatory training, and education to further their knowledge and practice and therefore provide the specialist services to support Surgeons, Coordinators and Patients during surgery using CHE core values of Commitment to Excellence, Respect, Integrity, Teamwork and Communication.
To be successful in your application for this position, you will have:
· Problem solving, teamwork, high level of written and verbal communication skills, self-directed learning, commitment to quality
· Ability to respond appropriately to emergency situations
· Current BLS certification.
· Current ALS & PALS preferred but willingness to attain is mandatory.
Essential criteria
· Current Division One Registration with AHPRA
· Min 5 years periop experience covering all facets including scrub, scout, PACU and anesthetics.
· Experience in the role as educator/teacher in the clinical setting.
· Advanced specialized training in the area of surgical services - essential.
· Understanding of Infection Control, essential
· Undertake professional self-development as per AHPRA Requirements (ACORN std) essential
· Evidence of ongoing Professional Development
· Post Graduate Certificate in Nurse Education or Perioperative Nursing desirable but not essential.
· Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
· Experience in Auditing Policies and Procedures and accreditation
· Current certification to conduct BLS training and assessment desired.
