Katherine Town Council is seeking a motivated and community-focused Assistant Ranger to join our Infrastructure and Environment team. About The Role

As an Assistant Ranger, you will work under the guidance of the Ranger team while developing practical skills and knowledge in local law enforcement, animal management, parking compliance, community education, and regulatory services.





The role includes conducting patrols and inspections, assisting with animal control and pound operations, investigating complaints, supporting parking and signage enforcement, preparing documentation and infringement notices, and engaging positively with the community.

This is a hands-on and rewarding role suited to someone who enjoys working outdoors, communicating with people from all walks of life, and contributing to the safety and wellbeing of the Katherine community.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have:

Strong communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to remain calm and professional in challenging situationsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamCurrent NT Driver’s LicenceCurrent Police and Working with Children ClearanceExperience using Microsoft Office programsAbility to understand and apply legislation and Council policiesWillingness to work with animals and assist in animal management activitiesFirearms Licence A & B (or willingness to obtain)

Experience in Local Government or animal management will be highly regarded.
