We have 6 community libraries across our local government area: Blacktown, Mount Druitt, Stanhope Gardens, Riverstone, Lalor Park, and Marsden Park Temporary Library. We also have a popular mobile library service.

We offer a wide range of services to our community including but not limited to, borrowing services, a digital library,

About the opportunity

This is an exciting permanent, part time opportunity for a Library Technician, which includes a weekend shift.

You will be part of a friendly, customer-focused team dedicated to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment where all visitors feel comfortable and supported.

In this role, you will deliver great customer experiences, assist customers in accessing a wide range of library services, and contribute to programs that bring the community together. You will also work closely with colleagues to ensure services run smoothly and that visitors receive consistent, high-quality support.

Responsibilities

- Deliver high quality community-focused programs
- Work collaboratively with colleagues
- Support customers in accessing the full range of library services

Qualifications and experience

- Library Technician Diploma,



Associate Diploma or equivalent as recognised by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA)
- Previous library experience
- Demonstrated strong commitment to a customer focused service
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment and independently
- Well-developed problem-solving skills
- Current class C driver’s licence
- Working with Children Check number
- First aid certification
- Ability to speak a community language

Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

- Entry level for this position starts at $1,362.15 per week, pro rata
- Penalty rates apply for weekend shifts
- Employee benefits include leave entitlements (where applicable), 12% employer contribution to superannuation, Fitness Passport, gym membership discounts, and social clubs
