About the role

Specsavers Coomera is seeking a dedicated Optical Assistant/Optical Dispenser to join our dynamic team on a full-time or part-time basis. This is an exciting opportunity to work in the optical healthcare sector, where you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional customer service and supporting our qualified optometrists and dispensers. Based in Coomera, QLD 4209, this position is central to ensuring our patients receive outstanding care and the perfect eyewear solutions. You will be at the forefront of our practice, helping customers find the right frames and lenses whilst contributing to the smooth operation of our store.

What you'll be doing

1. Greeting customers with a warm welcome and understanding their eyewear needs and preferences

2. Assisting customers in selecting appropriate frames and lenses based on their prescription and lifestyle requirements

3. Taking accurate measurements and fitting eyewear to ensure optimal comfort and vision correction

4. Processing customer payments and managing point-of-sale transactions with accuracy and professionalism

5. Maintaining detailed records of customer purchases and preferences to enhance future service

6. Providing advice on lens coatings, materials and eyewear care to help customers make informed decisions

7. Supporting the dispensing process and ensuring all eyewear meets quality standards before handover to customers

8. Keeping the optical store clean, organised and well-stocked with frames and products

9. Assisting with stock management, ordering and inventory control as required

10. Supporting the wider team to achieve sales targets and business objectives





11. Answering telephone enquiries and booking appointments for customers

What we're looking for

1. Previous experience working in an optical environment or customer-facing retail role (desirable but not essential)

2. A genuine interest in optical healthcare and eyewear

3. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to build rapport and trust with clients

4. Strong communication abilities, both verbal and written

5. Attention to detail and accuracy, particularly when taking measurements and processing transactions

6. Ability to work effectively as part of a team whilst also demonstrating initiative and independence

7. Basic numeracy and IT skills, including proficiency with point-of-sale systems

8. Physical ability to perform tasks such as fitting frames and standing for extended periods

9. A professional, friendly demeanour and willingness to learn and develop within the role

10. Relevant qualifications or certifications in optical dispensing or assistance (preferred)

11. Flexibility to work retail hours, including weekends and public holidays as required
