At Moree Plains Shire Council, we are looking for a professional, organised, and proactive individual to join our Business Services (Planning & Development) team as an Administration Officer. If you are communicative, diligent, and possess the sound judgement required to handle complex statutory administration, we want to hear from you.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Coordinator Business Services, you will provide specialised administrative, regulatory, and customer service support across Council’s Planning and Development Directorate. This pivotal role acts as a key liaison point between Council officers, government agencies, contractors, and the community, ensuring critical compliance matters are meticulously recorded and progressed.

Your key responsibilities will include:

- Providing high-level administrative assistance across planning, building, environmental health, ranger services, biosecurity, and related compliance matters.
- Preparing, processing, and issuing accurate enforcement documentation, including Notices of Intention, Orders, Penalty Infringement Notices (PINs), warning letters, and official registers.
- Maintaining and tracking compliance workflows, customer service requests, investigations, inspections, and strict statutory timeframes.
- Supporting planners, building surveyors, rangers, and environmental health officers with the preparation of reports, evidentiary material, inspection records, and briefings.
- Acting as a primary contact for regulatory matters, managing sensitive or difficult enquiries, and confidently referring complex technical issues to appropriate officers.
- Processing invoices, purchase orders, regulatory fees, applications, licences,



and approvals while contributing to the continuous improvement of administrative templates.
- Capturing, storing, and archiving documentation and decisions within Council’s records management system in full alignment with legislative requirements.

About You

You are a highly structured professional with strong attention to detail and the ability to locate and interpret complex legislative guidelines. You excel at managing competing priorities and statutory deadlines within a agile, high-pressure regulatory environment.

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:

- A Certificate III in Business Administration, Local Government Administration, or a related discipline, or demonstrated equivalent professional experience.
- Demonstrated experience working within a regulatory, compliance, planning, building, or local government administration setting.
- Proven skills in generating formal correspondence, statutory notices, agendas, minutes, and data tracking registers.
- High-level written and verbal communication skills paired with proficiency in business applications, database systems, and Microsoft Office.

Required Tickets, Licences and/or Qualifications:
- None explicitly mandated as essential, though a Class C Driver's Licence is highly regarded.

Desirable Criteria:
- Previous Local Government experience in a regulatory, compliance, planning, or environmental health customer service setting.
- A Certificate IV in Business Administration.

Required Clearances and Checks:
- Pre-employment medical screening, which may include drug and alcohol testing.
