Position Summary

Solwest Doors is a leading manufacturer and supplier of custom timber doors, fire-rated doors, acoustic doors, and specialised door systems for the commercial construction industry. Based in Wangara, WA, the company supports some of Australia’s largest builders and construction companies through high-quality manufacturing, technical expertise, and reliable service.

The Construction Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate quotations, cost estimates, and tender submissions for commercial construction and door supply projects. The role requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications to ensure projects are delivered competitively and efficiently.

Key ResponsibilitiesEstimating & Tendering

- Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial door packages and construction-related projects.
- Review and interpret architectural drawings, door schedules, specifications, and tender documentation.
- Complete quantity take-offs and material assessments.
- Source and obtain pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Prepare quotations, tenders, and scope submissions within required deadlines.
- Assess project risks, exclusions, and value engineering opportunities.
- Maintain accurate estimating records, pricing schedules, and historical project data.

Project Coordination

- Liaise with builders, architects, project managers, suppliers, and internal production teams.
- Assist with project handovers to operations and production departments.
- Support variation pricing and contract administration processes.
- Monitor project costs against awarded estimates and identify discrepancies.

Technical & Industry Knowledge

- Provide technical support relating to door systems, hardware, fire ratings, acoustic requirements,



and installation methods.
- Ensure compliance with Australian Standards and project specifications.
- Assist clients with product selections and technical solutions where required.

Procurement & Supplier Management

- Develop and maintain strong supplier and subcontractor relationships.
- Negotiate pricing and procurement arrangements where appropriate.
- Assist with forecasting material requirements and lead times.

Skills & Experience

- Previous experience as a Construction Estimator within the construction, manufacturing, fit-out, or door industry.
- Strong understanding of commercial construction processes and building materials.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and technical drawings.
- High level of numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong communication, organisational, and negotiation skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and estimating software.
- Carpentry or trade background highly regarded.
- Experience with doors, frames, hardware, fire-rated systems, or specialised joinery advantageous.

Qualifications

- Trade qualification, Certificate, or Diploma in Construction, Building, Carpentry, Estimating, or related field preferred.
- Relevant industry experience may be considered in place of formal qualifications.

Employment Conditions

Pay: $100,000.00 – $110,000.00 per year
