About Majesty Wellbeing Centre
Majesty Wellbeing Centre is a registered NDIS provider based in Wakerley, Brisbane, dedicated to delivering holistic, person-centred disability support services to individuals from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds. Our organisation specialises in supporting participants with roots in Sub-Saharan African communities, including but not limited to South Sudanese, Congolese, Ugandan, Nigerian, Ethiopian, Eritrean, Somali, and Kenyan communities. Position Overview
Position Details
**Position Title: Disability Support Manager - Cultural & Community Services**
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Location: Wakerley, Brisbane, Queensland (with community outreach as required)
Classification: SCHADS Award, Social and Community Services Employee Level 6
**Salary**: Commensurate with qualifications and experience
Reports To: Chief Executive Officer / Director of Operations
Direct Reports: NDIS Support Workers, Case Coordinators, Cultural Liaison Officers
Key Responsibilities
**Strategic Leadership & Service Management**
- Lead, manage, and mentor a multidisciplinary team of support workers and coordinators, fostering a culturally safe and inclusive workplace culture.
- Oversee the development, implementation, and review of individualised support plans in alignment with participants' NDIS goals, cultural values,
and community expectations.
- Ensure organisational compliance with the NDIS Practice Standards, the NDIS Code of Conduct, and relevant Queensland legislative requirements.
- Manage risk, incident reporting, and quality assurance processes in accordance with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission guidelines.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, identifying gaps in service delivery and implementing evidence-based solutions.
**Cultural Competency & Community Engagement**
- Serve as the primary cultural liaison between Majesty Wellbeing Centre and African diaspora communities across Greater Brisbane.
- Facilitate culturally informed intake processes, assessments, and care planning that account for collectivist family structures, traditional healing practices, religious observance, and migration trauma.
- Develop and maintain trusted relationships with African community leaders, elders, faith organisations, settlement services, and multicultural health networks.
- Provide guidance and training to staff on culturally responsive practices, including navigating communication barriers, interpreting family decision-making dynamics, and understanding the socio-political contexts of participants' countries of origin.
- Advocate for participants from African backgrounds within the broader NDIS system, including at plan reviews, LAC meetings, and NDIA interactions.
**Administration & Compliance**
- Oversee accurate and timely documentation of all service agreements, progress notes, incident reports, and NDIS claiming through the NDIS portal.
- Manage rostering, staffing allocations, and workforce planning to ensure continuity of high-quality support.
- Liaise with the NDIA, Local Area Coordinators (LACs), Support Coordinators, allied health professionals, and other stakeholders.
- Prepare operational reports, funding acquittals, and budget expenditure summaries for the executive team.
- Ensure all staff maintain current NDIS Worker Screening Clearances, mandatory training requirements, and career development obligations.
Selection Criteria
**Essential Requirements**
- A Bachelor's degree or higher in Social Work, Disability Studies, Community Services, Nursing, Psychology, Public Health, or a closely related discipline from a recognised Australian or internationally accredited institution.
- Minimum two (2) years of demonstrated experience in disability support services, NDIS plan management, or a related human services field, with at least two (2) years in a formal management or supervisory role.
- Extensive and demonstrable cultural competency working with Sub-Saharan African communities, including a thorough understanding of the social, cultural, linguistic, and historical factors that shape their engagement with health and disability services in Australia.
- Proficiency in one or more African languages spoken by communities in the Greater Brisbane region such as Dinka, Nuer, Somali, Amharic, Yoruba, Hausa, Swahili, Lingala, Kinyarwanda, or French (as a lingua franca of Central and West African communities) is highly desirable and will be given significant weight in the selection process.
