Metal Fabricator – Bayswater North, VIC

ET Fabrication is a family-owned steel fabrication business based in Bayswater North. We pride ourselves on delivering high-quality workmanship and are looking for an experienced and motivated Metal Fabricator to join our team.

About the Role

- Full-time (permanent) position with an initial 3-month probation period or casual employment option available
- Monday to Friday (flexible hours may be considered)
- Variety of workshop-based and onsite fabrication projects

Pay Rate:

$35–$45 per hour (negotiable based on experience and qualifications)

Key Responsibilities

- Perform MIG, TIG, and ARC welding across various materials
- Fabricate components from mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminium
- Read and interpret engineering, architectural, and shop drawings
- Carry out cutting, shaping, bending, grinding, and assembly tasks
- Conduct quality checks to ensure work meets required tolerances (±2mm)
- Maintain tools and equipment in a safe and qualified condition
- Ensure work areas are clean, organised, and compliant with safety standards
- Identify and report potential hazards

Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role,



you will have:

- Certificate III in Engineering (Fabrication) or equivalent
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in metal fabrication or a similar role
- Strong MIG, TIG & ARC welding experience
- Proven experience working with mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminium
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Experience with steel preparation and processing
- Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
- Good time management and ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Sound understanding of Workplace Health & Safety practices
- Physically fit and capable of manual work
- Valid driver’s licence and own transport

Highly regarded (but not essential):

- Welding tickets (AS1796 1–9)
- Current forklift licence
