George’s Loader Hire (GLH RAIL & CIVIL) is a proud Australian owned family business, providing Wet and Dry Hire of construction equipment used in Rail and Civil construction projects throughout Queensland. We have the largest fleet of narrow and standard gauge rail-specific equipment in Queensland and also have a very large fleet of trucks, loaders and excavators along with a large workforce of experienced operators and spotters, all Rail Industry Worker qualified. Major ongoing contracts include Aurizon and Queensland Rail.

Are you a professional leader with a passion for heavy equipment , problem solving and exceptional customer service? Look no further! We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Operations Manager to lead our equipment hire business based in SEQ.

The role will oversee operations based out of Wacol and will include:

- To be contactable 24/7 via mobile phone and share in an on-call roster;

- Manage and allocate rosters for Operators, Drivers and Spotters;

- Manage recruitment, supervision, and training of staff;.

- Manage incoming customer enquiries, quotations, orders, invoicing and disputes while maintaining a robust customer service focus and building and maintaining positive customer relations;

- Contract management including submission of on-time QA documentation;

- Business development and sales growth.

- Monitor KPI’s and take corrective action to achieve targets





- Identify and prioritize improvement opportunities for optimal performance

- Drive safety, quality, productivity and innovation ensuring that the workplace is safe and compliant with regulations.

The successful applicant must have a positive attitude, and be able to demonstrate attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure at times. Strong written and oral communication skills, leadership skills and organisational skills are essential to the position along with experience in a plant hire and supply operations environment. You must be able to demonstrate competence to set goals, establish work priorities, use database software and an understanding of legislation and regulatory requirements as it relates to a plant hire and supply business.

Ideally we require:

5+ years of leadership experience with demonstrated ability to lead, coach and manage diverse teams effectively.

5+ years in fleet services and/or logistics (rail industry experience preferred but not mandatory)

A management diploma or degree.

We offer flexible working conditions, a family business attitude with big business processes. The position is based at our Wacol depot and a salary package with company vehicle commensurate with experience will be offered.
