About the role

Queensland Road Construction is seeking an experienced Yard Manager to join our team based in Ipswich, QLD 4305. This is a full-time position that plays a critical role in the efficient operation and management of our construction yard facilities. As Yard Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all yard operations, ensuring optimal asset utilisation, maintaining safety standards, and supporting the delivery of our construction projects. This role is essential to the smooth functioning of our logistics and materials management operations, directly impacting project timelines and operational efficiency across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

1. Overseeing daily yard operations and ensuring all equipment, machinery and materials are maintained in optimal working condition

2. Managing inventory control and stock levels of construction materials, ensuring accurate record-keeping and timely ordering

3. Coordinating the loading, unloading and storage of equipment and materials in accordance with safety regulations and operational requirements

4. Supervising yard staff and contractors, providing direction, training and performance management to ensure operational excellence

5. Implementing and maintaining health, safety and environmental (HSE) standards across all yard activities, conducting regular inspections and risk assessments

6. Managing yard maintenance schedules, plant servicing and equipment repairs to minimise downtime

7. Liaising with project managers and site supervisors to ensure timely provision of required equipment and materials

8. Maintaining accurate records of equipment movements, maintenance logs and yard activities

9. Identifying opportunities for operational improvements and cost efficiencies within yard management

10. Ensuring compliance with company policies, industry regulations and legislative requirements

What we're looking for

1. Proven experience in yard management, logistics coordination or similar role within the construction, transport or manufacturing sector

2.



Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and supervise staff effectively

3. Comprehensive knowledge of health, safety and environmental regulations relevant to construction and yard operations

4. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and coordinate complex operations

5. Proficiency in inventory management systems and computer-based record-keeping

6. Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, control costs and identify operational efficiencies

7. Solid communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders

8. Problem-solving capability and the ability to respond quickly to operational challenges

9. Valid driver's licence and willingness to operate yard equipment where required

10. A commitment to maintaining the highest standards of health and safety in the workplace
