About us

Safe Inspect Commercial is seeking an experienced Fire extinguisher and Essential Services Technician to join our growing service division. This role is suited to a technician who is confident working autonomously, understands Victorian Essential Safety Measures (ESM) compliance requirements, and takes pride in delivering technically accurate inspection and maintenance outcomes. Our experienced team have installed, tested and maintain fire equipment in an array of working environments. These include Australian government sites, schools, hospitals, commercial/residential buildings, shopping centres and warehouses.

The Role

As a mobile Fire Services Technician, you will be responsible for completing planned and unplanned commercial maintenance requests across Metropolitan Melbourne, Greater Geelong, Bellarine Peninsula, Surfcoast Shire & Regional Victoria. You will be responsible for the competent inspection, testing, fault identification, and reporting of portables, passives and Essential Services equipment in accordance with:

- Relevant Australian Standards (including AS1851)

- Victorian ESM legislation and municipal enforcement requirements

- Building Code of Australia (NCC) performance and prescriptive provisions

You will operate independently in the field and ensure all reporting is completed accurately and professionally.

Qualifications & experience

- Drivers license





- Certificate II in Fire Protection (Inspection & Testing) or equivalent

- FIP/EWIS (Inspecting & Testing) BONUS!!

- Driven and self motivated

- Robust client-facing communication skills

- Self-managed, structured and accountable work style

- Professional presentation and conduct

- Attention to detail

- Ability to work unsupervised

- Australian Citizenship

- An understanding of AS1851 and AS2293

- Knowledge with Uptick

Tasks & responsibilities

- Inspection, testing and maintenance of Essential Safety Measures, including:

-Fire extinguishers, Blankets, hose reels and hydrants

-Exit and emergency lighting systems

-Fire doors and passive fire elements

-Smoke Alarms

- Accurate defect identification and clear photographic documentation

- Detailed reporting via Uptick (job management platform)

- Professional communication with clients, tenants and team members

- Maintaining company vehicle, tools and stock control

- Contributing to accurate AESMR documentation through compliant record keeping

- Installation of Portable Fire systems and equipment

- FIP/EWIS (Inspecting & Testing) BONUS!!

- Travelling maybe required, travel allowance paid additional to salary
