**What you'll be doing**

The primary purpose of this position is to provide medical care and support, as part of a multidisciplinary team that is consistent with the level of clinical competency and experience of the appointed Trainee.

Medical Officers will work under an appropriate level of supervision according to their level of competence to evaluate, diagnose, treat and provide consultation to patients of all ages presenting in any condition.

Bathurst Hospital is a 120-bed hospital and has a busy Emergency Department, Medical, Surgical, Rehabilitation, Maternity and Paediatric wards and Intensive Care Unit. There is a main Operating Suite and a Day Surgery Unit. Daffodil Cottage is an on-site outpatient Oncology Unit and there is also a Renal Dialysis Unit. The Ambulatory Care Unit offers both outpatient and hospital in the home services. Panorama Clinic is the in office inpatient Mental Health Unit. Bathurst Hospital is an innovative and dynamic organisation dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of our community. Bathurst Hospital serves a population of over 57,000 people and the Emergency Department sees approximately 28,000 patients per year with an admission rate of 20%. Specialist services are provided in Renal Medicine, General Surgery, ENT, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, Dentistry, Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Paediatrics. There are on site Intensive Care, Coronary Care, Oncology and Day Surgery units as well as comprehensive 24 hours onsite Pathology and Medical Imaging.



In addition to Grand Rounds and JMO Teaching, Consultants from the University of Western Sydney also provide teaching to the cohort.

- The position has one echo training day per week in Bathurst with supervision by Cardiac sonographers and cardiologists.
- The position attends 2 cardiology clinic days/week in Bathurst.
- The trainee would cover district WNSLHD cardiology and the acute STEMI roster one day a week and one in 4 weekends on call in Orange, attending coronary care ward rounds with the Cardiologist in Orange.
- The position will cover annual leave in Orange for leave cover up to 12 weeks of the year, for operational needs and during the leave cover for experience in angiography and work in a larger cardiac centre.
- The position covers one day a week General Medicine duties and one to two weekends every 13 weeks, there is no on call during these shifts.
- There are research opportunities and weekly video link MDT and education sessions with Orange and RPAH.




- To manage operational needs of the facilities this position will be required to cover cardiology registrar leave in Orange for up to 12 weeks a year. During the leave cover in Orange this position will have access and exposure to angiography.

**Essential Requirements**:

- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.
- Completion of at least two (2) postgraduate years of medical practice.
- Valid NSW Working with Children check.
- Cleared National Police check.
- Aged Care Check for Australian Government funded positions.
- To be employed by NSW Health you are required to provide evidence of vaccination to comply with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening & Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy, this includes any amendments made from time to time.
- You must take all reasonable care for yourself and others and comply with any reasonable instruction, policies and procedures relating to work health safety and wellbeing.
