Urban College is a growing independent school in Melbourne's outer east, built around a easy belief: every young person deserves a place where they belong. We serve students aged 14–21 across multiple campuses — young people who may not have thrived in traditional school settings, many of whom are navigating significant complexity in their lives.
About the role
This is a rare chance to lead a campus from day one. As Head of Campus (Scoresby), you will establish Urban College's newest site — building its culture, assembling and developing its staff team, and creating an environment where students feel known, supported, and challenged to grow.
Reporting to the Executive Principal, you'll be the educational and operational leader of the Scoresby campus. You'll carry responsibility for everything that makes a campus thrive: teaching quality, student wellbeing, enrolments, compliance, and the day-to-day experience of every person who walks through the door.
If you've ever wanted to build something — not just maintain it — this is that role.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and lead the Scoresby campus — from systems and culture to staff team and student enrolments
- Deliver high-quality, trauma-informed, student-centred education aligned with Urban College's strategic plan
- Lead, mentor, and develop campus staff including a Leading Teacher, Head of Wellbeing, and administration team
- Oversee student wellbeing, behaviour, attendance, and individualised learning plans
- Ensure compliance with VRQA, Child Safe Standards, and all relevant regulatory requirements
- Build strong relationships with families, community agencies, and local networks in the Knox area
- Manage campus operations,
enrolments, budgets, and site maintenance
What we're looking for
- Current VIT registration — essential
- Current Working with Children Check — essential
- Demonstrated experience in senior educational leadership within a secondary or specialist school
- A genuine commitment to young people in senior secondary education and a belief that every student can succeed with the right environment around them
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop staff teams
- Working knowledge of VRQA, Child Safe Standards, and Department of Education frameworks
- A self-starter who thrives in a fast-moving environment and is energised by the challenge of building rather than maintaining
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Relevant postgraduate qualifications in educational leadership (desirable)
Why Urban College You won't just be running a campus — you'll be shaping one. Urban College is a college with a clear mission, a strong leadership team, and the ambition to keep growing. You'll have real autonomy, real support, and real impact on the lives of young people who need great school leadership most.
How to apply
