About the roles

- Based in Wondai
- Permanent Full Time
- $95K- $109K per annum + Allowances + Super

Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Overseer to lead the delivery of works maintenance and capital programs while overseeing day-to-day operational activities across the department. This key leadership role is responsible for coordinating teams, managing resources, and ensuring works are delivered safely and efficiently within agreed timeframes and budgets. The successful applicant will provide strong leadership in service delivery, project management, and operational planning, while developing and prioritising work schedules. Applicants will possess substantial experience working within the road corridor and civil construction environment, preferably within local government. Demonstrated leadership capability, the ability to manage competing priorities and coordinate multiple teams, together with strong communication and computer skills, are essential.

Mandatory Qualifications

- Tertiary qualification (minimum Associate Diploma Level) in a relevant field (i.e. Civil Construction or Project Management) with substantial experience, or lesser formal qualifications (with specialised skills sufficient to perform the duties - Level 5); (with experience & competence sufficient to perform the duties - Level 6).
- Current C Class driver’s licence and White Card

Desirable Qualifications

- Diploma of Project Management
- Traffic Management Design qualification

- Participation in after hours and weekend work is a requirement of this position including participation in on call roster on rotational basis
- Level of fitness required to undertake a broad range of physical tasks
- Working outdoors in hot conditions

Skills and experience

Please address the following key selection criteria items below, as part of your application

- Relevant experience undertaking works within the road corridor in a local government/civil construction environment.
- Proven leadership skills supervising and coordinating multiple teams to meet project deadlines and maximise performance.
- Proven ability to complete and implement project management plans, resource procurement plans and a forward work program with a high degree of autonomy.
- Sound level of literacy, numeracy, and communication skill with ability to establish strong working relationships across teams.
- Sound computer skills and knowledge of MS office Suite and the ability to acquire knowledge of Council’s corporate software systems.
