We’re looking for a Procurement and Contracts Advisor who enjoys partnering with people, solving problems and helping others understand how good procurement works. If you like structure, negotiation and supporting teams to make informed decisions, this role is for you.
About the Role
As a Procurement and Contracts Advisor, you’ll support end to end procurement across the City from early planning and market analysis through to contract award, supplier engagement and performance monitoring. You’ll help teams understand their requirements, navigate the process and achieve outcomes that are compliant, transparent and aligned with the City’s strategic direction.
In this role, you will:
- Partner with teams across the City to provide practical, confident procurement advice that helps them plan, source and manage goods and services effectively.
- Support tendering, evaluation and contract management across a range of categories, ensuring processes are fair, consistent and well-structured.
- Prepare polished, skilled procurement documentation for low, medium and high-value projects.
- Lead straightforward negotiations and contribute to more complex ones to help secure strong commercial outcomes.
- Analyse supplier pricing, develop simple cost breakdowns and support financial assessments with clarity and accuracy.
- Identify procurement risks, non-compliance and improvement opportunities and work constructively with stakeholders to address them.
- Build strong, positive working relationships with internal customers and strategic suppliers.
- Help build capability across the City by supporting training, coaching and education in procurement and contract management.
This is a hands on role where your work will directly support good governance, financial sustainability and community trust.
About You
You’re someone who enjoys helping others navigate processes, make informed decisions and achieve better outcomes. You’re organised, confident and comfortable working with detail.
To this role, you will bring:
- Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in procurement, contracts, law or commerce (desirable).
- Experience in procurement planning, tender development, evaluation and contract management.
- Solid communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships.
- Good analytical and problem solving capability,
including interpreting data and assessing supplier information.
- The ability to prepare clear, concise documentation and reports.
- A collaborative mindset and the confidence to coach others in procurement best practice.
