Job Overview: GEO Healthcare provides primary healthcare to men in public prisons across Victoria. Pharmacy Technicians assist with medication management within their scope of practice, including preparation for medication rounds, administration, inventory management, and ordering medications and other pharmaceuticals under supervision. Full‑time positions carry a salary of $65k plus super, with part‑time roles prorated accordingly.

Responsibilities:

- Assist in medication preparation for administration rounds.
- Administer prescribed medication under supervision.
- Maintain medication inventory and assist with ordering.
- Support pharmacy operations within a prison setting.

Qualifications and Experience:

- Certificate III in Hospital Pharmacy Technician or Community Pharmacy (or equivalent approved by the Pharmacy Board of Australia).
- Certificate III in Health (Hospital Pharmacy Technician or Community Pharmacy) course or equivalent.
- Alternatively, completion of an “Assist Clients with Medication” course as part of a Certificate III or IV in Health Care.
- Or completion of medication‑related courses or modules within an undergraduate degree in Nursing or Pharmacy.

Ideal Candidate:

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.




- Strong organisational and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams.
- Competent with computer and information technology.
- Committed to ongoing career development.

Other Requirements:

- Completion of a dispensary assistant module is preferred.
- Experience in medication administration or pharmacy technology.
- Ability to work within a prison setting, involving direct contact with inmates.
- Satisfactory National Criminal History Check.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
- Work outside ordinary business hours may be required.
- Onsite work only – no hybrid or remote option.
- Three COVID‑19 vaccinations and Flu vaccination within the previous 12 months.
