Love dogs? Be part of something recent at Barkley Park!
For the first time ever, we're opening our doors to volunteers — and we want the right people to be part of it.
Barkley Park has been operating for over five years and in that time we've built a reputation we're incredibly proud of. Through dedication and experience, we've developed procedures and processes that make us one of the most efficient, safe and well-regarded dog day cares in the industry, and our customers would be the first to tell you that.
But in all that time, we've never taken on volunteers. That changes now.
We're launching our very first volunteer program and we're looking for a small number of enthusiastic, reliable dog lovers to join our team in Kedron. We're genuinely excited about this, and if it's something you've been looking for, we'd love to hear from you. We've always believed in growing our team from within, and this is how that journey begins.
Who We Are
We're Barkley Park, Brisbane North's largest indoor/outdoor dog day care, based in Kedron. We're a family-run business with big hearts, high standards, and plenty of paw prints. Our values — Care, Communication, Community, Safety, and Pride — guide everything we do, from how we treat our dogs to how we support our team.
About the Role
As a Barkley Park Volunteer, you'll work hands-on inside our daycare environment alongside our experienced paid staff. This is a genuine learning opportunity — not a background role. You'll be inside the play areas with the dogs, observing canine behaviour, understanding group dynamics, and seeing firsthand how a professional daycare team operates every single day.
Volunteers are never left alone to supervise dogs.
You'll work alongside our team at all times as an extra set of eyes, ears and hands.
What You'll Be Involved In
- Working alongside staff inside the daycare runs
- Observing canine body language and social behaviour
- Assisting staff when moving dogs between play areas
- Supporting structured play and enrichment activities
- Learning how we monitor group dynamics and dog wellbeing
- Participating in the daily routines that make up a dog's daycare experience
What We're Looking For
Someone who is:
- Genuinely passionate about dogs and animal welfare
- Physically active and comfortable on their feet for extended periods
- Reliable and committed — our team and dogs depend on consistency
- A great communicator and team player
- Comfortable in a busy, noisy, hands-on environment
Prior experience with dogs is a bonus but absolutely not required. We'll show you the ropes.
Volunteer Shifts Available
- Morning shift: 7:00am – 12:00pm
- Afternoon shift: 12:00pm – 6:00pm
- Minimum commitment: one designated shift per week
Why Volunteer at Barkley Park?
- Practical, hands-on experience inside a polished, professional day care built over five years
- Learn from an experienced, supportive team in a real-world environment
- Understand canine behaviour and group dynamics up close
- Be part of a close-knit team that genuinely loves what they do
- Many of our paid team members began their journey in environments just like this one — we always look within before we look elsewhere
