About the opportunity

Werribee Mercy Hospital Maternity Services has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Midwifery Unit Manager with a passion for Antenatal Care and experience managing midwifery continuity models, to join our team in a new role.

The Women’s & Children’s Division at Werribee Mercy Hospital is a progressive and innovative division striving to provide the best care to women and families in our local community.

The Midwifery Unit Manager - Midwifery Clinics and Models of Care will provide leadership and clinical expertise in the care provision of our Midwifery Clinics and the implementation of Continuity Models of Care.

The role of the Midwifery Unit Manager - Midwifery Clinics and Models of Care is to:





- Provide effective Midwifery leadership and strategic direction to ensure high quality clinical practices and care. Act as a role model, providing leadership and practice within the core values of Mercy Health
- Provide expertise in the establishment and commencement of midwifery continuity models of care to compliment the current antenatal clinics. Provide professional clinical leadership and mentorship for midwives.
- Co-ordinate and manage the day to day operations of the clinics and ensure high quality clinical midwifery practice and woman centered care across the clinics and continuity models.
- Be committed to building and nurturing strong cooperative relationships within the multidisciplinary maternity team.
- Tactically manage the operational, financial, human and information resources within the unit liaising with the Divisional Director
- Guide the strategic growth ensuring consideration of clinical, financial, human resources and quality of care.

The Midwifery Unit Manager - Midwifery Clinics and Models of Care will form an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team and will be required to ensure highly responsive and flexible service to internal and external health care providers.

To thrive in this role, you will have:





- Midwifery registration with Australian Health Practitioner Agency (AHPRA)
- Experience implementing and managing midwifery continuity models of care
- At least two years Midwifery Unit Manager experience
- Demonstrated commitment to developing strong relationships within a multidisciplinary maternity team
- Demonstrated ability to be an exemplary role model
- Excellent interpersonal and effective communications skills
- Post Graduate Qualification in midwifery or in hospital / health services, administration, management or equivalent (or working towards)

You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining:

- A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.
- Current COVID-19 certificate, proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders.
