Lead high-value, complex tax matters in a boutique firm
Our client is a boutique law firm known for resolving complex tax issues for high-net-worth individuals and businesses. They are seeking a Tax Lawyer to join their team, working on high-stakes advisory and dispute matters, collaborating with Senior and Junior solicitors.
This role is ideal for a confident, technically strong tax professional who enjoys solving problems, navigating ATO engagement and working across both legal and commercial perspectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advising clients on a broad range of federal and state tax issues (income tax, CGT, GST, trust and international tax).
- Managing tax disputes — including audits, objections and appeals to the ATO and relevant tribunals/courts.
- Drafting technical tax advice, correspondence with authorities and legal documents.
- Collaborating with clients, accountants, financial advisers and counsel.
- Supporting broader matters such as business structuring, asset protection and succession planning.
About You
- 3–5 years post-admission experience in tax law, ideally within a commercial or private client setting.
- Strong technical understanding of the Australian tax system.
- Confident dealing with the ATO and handling contentious tax matters.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain complex issues clearly.
- Able to work autonomously and take initiative within a collaborative workplace.
