We’re now seeking a Manager – City Operations Planning to develop and lead a high performing planning and support team, while driving the coordination and continuous improvement of operational services across a diverse and essential portfolio. This includes parks and gardens, verges and dryland reserves, sporting facilities and biodiversity, civil infrastructure, tree services, and support services.
This is a newly created role and a genuine opportunity to make a lasting impact by strengthening leadership capability, improving how City Operations plans for growth, manages resources, and delivers highquality, sustainable services to our community.
About The Role
Reporting to the Senior Manager City Operations , the Manager – City Operations Planning leads the strategic and operational planning functions that underpin City Operations service delivery.
You will provide leadership, direction and development to a small planning and support team, ensuring robust coordination, clear accountability and a focus on high quality measurable outcomes.
You will work closely with City Operations Managers and internal stakeholders across finance, asset management, project delivery and planning to ensure services are wellcoordinated, financially sustainable, and responsive to current and future community needs.
Key to this role is linking longterm service planning, growth forecasting, performance reporting and budgeting with realworld operational delivery – ensuring City Operations is ready for new assets,
increased demand and evolving service expectations.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
- Leading and developing a small planning and support team to deliver effective coordination, reporting and administrative support. Leading service planning, coordination and scheduling across all City Operations portfolios
- Supporting service reviews, performance reporting and continuous improvement initiatives
- Providing clear, datadriven advice on service performance, costs, demand and growth impacts
- Coordinating planning for growth, new assets and operational readiness across City Operations
- Leading service forecasting and budget development in partnership with operational leaders
- Supporting contract and procurement planning and continuous improvement processes
- Preparing highquality reports, briefings and advice for senior leadership
About You
You are a strategic, organised and highly collaborative leader who understands how strong planning enables great operational outcomes.
You’re comfortable working across complex service environments, analysing performance and financial data, and translating insights into practical, actionable advice. You build solid relationships, communicate clearly, and bring a solutionsfocused mindset to improving how services are planned and delivered.
You Will Ideally Bring
- Tertiary qualifications and/or significant experience in operations planning, business management, asset management or a related discipline.
- Experience in service planning, scheduling, reporting or coordination within a complex operational or local government environment.
- Strong analytical capability, including the ability to interpret service, performance and financial data.
- Experience supporting budget development, forecasting and performance reporting.
- Welldeveloped communication skills, with experience preparing reports and advice for senior stakeholders.
- A collaborative leadership style with the ability to influence across teams and portfolios.
