Hornsby Shire Council is seeking a dedicated, strategic Team Leader for Council’s Community Facilities to drive exceptional service outcomes and lead the effective management of vibrant community spaces.
Position Type
Permanent full time
Salary
$107,749.68 – $120,258.61 per annum plus superannuation, and a 9-day fortnight. Appointed salary in this range will be determined based on skills, qualifications and experience.
About the Role
The Team Leader provides strategic leadership to ensure the effective ongoing operation and maintenance of Hornsby’s Community Facilities. The role is responsible for assessing facility condition and utilisation to identify required upgrades or improvements, ensuring facilities remain high quality, fit for purpose assets that meet community needs. The Team Leader is accountable for complex technical administration, budget management and acting as a key stakeholder in the planning and delivery of projects across Councils Community and Cultural Facilities.
This role also provides ongoing leadership to the Venue Management Team, ensuring adherence to established processes and driving continuous refinement and improvement of operational practices in alignment with Councils strategic priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and lead the Venue Management team to execute core Council services whilst developing the capabilities within the team.
- Oversee all daily operations of Community Facilities to ensure they remain safe, accessible and well maintained to support strong community use and satisfaction.
- Lead the improvement and implementation of operational processes to embed continuous improvement, increase efficiency, and maintain consistent service standards across all facilities,
while fostering solid collaboration with internal stakeholders.
- Provide administrative and coordination support for projects that improve community facilities, maintaining adherence to required timeframes and ensuring delivery is consistent with Council’s strategic goals and community expectations.
- Support effective asset management by identifying maintenance needs and contributing to lifecycle planning within budget delegations and adopted processes. Ensuring facilities remain functional and sustainable.
- Engage proactively with community facility users and stakeholders to understand requirements, enhance facility utilisation, and manage the delivery of responsive and reliable customer service within the Venue Management Team.
- Ensure compliance with Council policies, procedures and legislative requirements to support safe operations and the responsible management of community facilities.
- Contribute to planning, reporting and operational decision making that aligns with Councils adopted Policies, ensuring strategic consistency to improve community facilities.
Position Requirements
- Relevant degree level education and/or extensive experience in the operation of community facilities
- Extensive experience managing the operation of complex multi-faceted facilities
- Strong experience in leading, managing, coaching and developing customer focused teams
- Demonstrated experience in engaging with and managing online booking management systems
- Demonstrated ability to review,
develop and implement policies and procedures to support complex operations supporting continuous development
- Judgement and negotiating skills together with proven customer experience skills and relationship development
- Ability to resolve conflict and address complex problems and issues with attention to detail
- Current class C Driver’s licence

The role is primarily based in a business office environment, with some work undertaken at Council’s Community and Cultural Facilities across the Shire.
