About the Role

Positive Care and Supports is seeking experienced fluent Italian-speaking Disability Support Workers to provide high-quality care and support in a residential setting in Broadmeadows.

You will be supporting an individual with complex needs in a home setting, ensuring safety, dignity, and meaningful engagement. This role is ideal for someone who is patient, calm, and passionate about delivering person-centred care while following established Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs).

Key Responsibilities

Provide daily living and personal care support within a residential home.

Communicate effectively in both English and Italian, supporting the participant’s comfort and engagement.

Support individuals with:
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Intellectual Disability (ID)

ADHD

Sensory and communication difficulties

Challenging behaviours

Follow established support and behaviour management plans.

Promote independence, dignity, and choice in all interactions.

Maintain accurate progress notes and incident reports.

Shift Details

Residential home-based role in Broadmeadows

Casual shifts available: AM, PM, Active Overnight, and weekends

Weekday active overnight availability is highly desirable

Community access support may also be required

Guide for Support Workers

Purpose

Ensure safety and dignity for individuals needing support.

Create a calm, structured environment with clear communication.





Follow BSP strategies and escalate concerns appropriately.

Communication

Use simple, respectful language in English and Italian.

Encourage engagement through gestures, visuals, and consistency.

Avoid overloading with information — patience and calm tone are key.

Preventative Strategies

Maintain a safe and calm environment.

Support structured routines and predictable transitions.

Use visual aids and choices to enhance independence.

Escalation Response

Recognise early signs of distress.

Ensure personal and participant safety at all times.

Document incidents per organisational procedure.

Essential Requirements

Fluent in Italian (spoken; written desirable)

Previous experience supporting individuals with complex needs

NDIS Worker Screening Check (NDIS Clearance)

Working with Children Check (WWCC)

National Police Check

Valid Australian work rights

Current First Aid and CPR

Reliable transport and willingness to travel to Broadmeadows

Desirable

Certificate III or IV in Disability, Community Services, or equivalent

Medication administration training

Understanding of Positive Behaviour Support and trauma-informed practice
