Expressions of Interest Sought – Archae-aus Full Time Senior Assistant Archaeologist Position

Archae-aus Pty Ltd, an established Cultural Heritage Consulting company operating out of North Fremantle, is currently seeking assistant archaeologists for a full time position on various Aboriginal, historical and maritime archaeological assessments across Western Australia.

The senior assistant archaeologist will work as part of the team for both office and field based tasks, under the supervision of Archae-aus Senior Archaeologists. The role is responsible for delivery of tasks in a professional, secure, timely and cost effective manner. The assistant archaeologist will participate in:

· Conducting Indigenous and historical cultural heritage assessments.

· Writing cultural heritage management plans.

· Writing cultural heritage compliance audits.

· Coordinating and conducting Archaeological site recording, excavation, analysis, research and site salvage.

· Presenting cultural heritage inductions.

· Presenting Indigenous cultural heritage assistant and monitor training.

Selection Criteria

At least 2 years experience in consulting archaeology





At a minimum an honours degree (or equivalent) in Archaeology or related discipline with experience in Australian archaeology.

Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team on archaeological projects.

Demonstrated ability to work in consultation with stakeholders including: clients, Aboriginal communities and the wider community.

Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.

Demonstrated commitment to workplace health and safety.

Remuneration will be based on qualifications and experience. Those with some experience with lithic artefacts and GIS mapping and who hold a valid Construction Induction White Card, Driver’s Licence, 4WD Training and a First Aid Training Certificates will be favoured.
