About the role
ARRCS are currently sourcing an experienced Cook to support the preparation, handling, and storage of our residents’ and Home Care consumers meals at our Tjipiku Pampaku Ngura Adaptable aged care facility located in Pukatja, SA. In addition, this role will also see you when required, complete Kitchen Hand shifts. This position is a being offered on a permanent full time basis working 38 hours per week and offers a salary of $31.81 - $33.22 / hour gross.
This role would ideally suit a skilled cook who enjoys working in a multi-functional kitchen. You will have a hands-on approach to work and be comfortable to complete all aspects of cooking functions including (when required) kitchen hand duties, ordering, meal preparation and appropriate storage of consumables.
As the successful candidate for this role, you must be prepared to permanently relocate to
APY Lands. Please see link for more information on the region APY - APY. Shared housing will be included in your remuneration package and, you must also be comfortable to travel to other communities within the APY lands that ARRCS supports when required. This will include travel by 4WD and can include overnight stays.

Skills and experience
To be considered for this role, you must demonstrate the following:
- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or a similar discipline.
- Holds or willing to obtain a Food Handlers Certificate to the 3.2.2A / SITXFSA005 standard.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a commercial cook environment, with preference within a Health or Aged care facility.
- Demonstrated prior experience in the development of menus’ and working with multiple dietary requirements.
- Extensive knowledge of health and safety legislation in response to food preparation, food handling and storage.
- Demonstrated ability in achieving personal goals and identifying areas for new training, development and requesting further training for any development in competency skill checks.
- Demonstrated ability to respond and adapt to competing priorities whilst working unsupervised.
- Demonstrated ability to empathise with Aged People, their families, and Personal Carers.
- Ability to work and live in remote are of APY Lands.
