HammondCare Waratah is currently seeking experienced and reliable Chefs/Cooks to join our team in our morning and afternoon teams.
About the role:
HammondCare Waratah is a 232-bed residential aged care site.
This site is a a cook fresh operation from a Central Production Kitchen, producing breakfast, lunch, dinner, desserts, morning and afternoon teas 7 days a week to 14 dining areas across the site.
All meals are cooked fresh using a four-week cyclic menu with a wide variety of main meals and desserts.
Shift times are 0630-1500 for the morning chef/cook or 0900-1730 for the afternoon chef/cook.

Key responsibilities
- Ability to produce high quality meals in line with aged care food service/HACCP guidelines, Quality Assurance procedures including low and high care residents.
- Assisting in menu design, changes and implementation.
- Responsible for preparation of special diets such as texture modified & allergens
- Excellent organisation skills and the ability to multi-task.
- Function in a fast-paced kitchen as part of a strong harmonious kitchen team.
Skills and experience
- 3+ years' experience in a similar role - aged care experience highly regarded.
- Cert III in commercial cookery desirable
- Experience in large volume cooking as well as work autonomously and in group settings
- Reliable and punctual
- Collaborative and team player
- Ability to multi-task and perform work within deadlines.
- High level of HACCP and Food Safety knowledge.
- Must have reliable transport.
To be successful in this role, you will:
- Be adaptable and able to commit to a range of shifts including weekends & public holidays
- Experience in preparing and cooking within an Aged Care environment an advantage
- Value teamwork but also be able to work independently and show initiative
- Demonstrated understanding of safe manual handling and standard precautions
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- High level of understanding safe food handling principles & how to create a safe working environment
