Are you passionate about community connection, local events and making a difference? The Shire of Collie is seeking a motivated and community‑minded individual to join our team as a Community Development Officer . As part of the Corporate Services Team, this agile role supports a broad range of community initiatives, partnerships and events that help strengthen the Collie community. You’ll work autonomously with local organizations, volunteers and residents to deliver inclusive, engaging and creative programs across our town.
Key responsibilities
Develop, deliver and evaluate community development programs and events.
Support community groups, volunteers and service providers through advice, coordination and promotion.
Build and maintain partnerships with local businesses, schools, service agencies and community stakeholders.
Identify and apply for grant funding opportunities to support local initiatives.
Coordinate major community events including Australia Day and Sports Awards.
Ensure compliance with the Shire’s Disability Access and Inclusion Plan (DAIP).
Prepare reports, policies, budgets and correspondence for council consideration.
The successful candidate will bring energy,
creativity and robust people skills, with a genuine passion for community building. Have/Or be willing to obtain experience in community development, event management or a related field. Be willing to work evenings and/or weekends, when required. Solid communication, networking & organisational skills. The ability to work collaboratively across teams and with external partners. Experience in preparing reports, running events and seeking grants. Competency in MS Office. A current C class driver's license, working with children’s check and a national police clearance.
An attractive remuneration package will be offered, with a cash component from $79,701 per annum based on skills and experience. Residing within the Shire of Collie will be highly regarded but is not essential, and a housing allowance will be offered for such.
