Position Title: Motor Mechanic
Location: Kew, NSW 2439
Salary: $78,000+ Superannuation
Task & responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct scheduled servicing (minor, major) according to manufacturer and shop standards.
- Perform diagnostics to identify mechanical, electrical and braking faults.
- Repair and replace components (engines, transmissions, steering, cooling, fuel systems, exhausts etc.).
- Carry out inspections and prepare work estimates.
- Fit, balance and align tyres including Kumho product lines.
- Inspect wheel alignment, tyre wear and suspension issues; make necessary repairs or recommendations.
- Advise customers on tyre selection, safety, and maintenance.
- Ensure work meets safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain workshop housekeeping – clean, safe, orderly.
- Use tools, equipment, diagnostic computers safely and properly.
- Maintain accurate records: job cards, time taken, parts used.
- Communicate with customers to explain faults, proposed repairs, costs, and timelines in a clear, friendly manner.
- Maintain customer satisfaction by ensuring quality, timeliness, and reliability.
- Handle customer queries or complaints; liaise with management if escalation is needed.
- Work collaboratively with other mechanics, apprentices, service advisors.
- Mentor junior staff/apprentices if applicable.
- Keep up‑to‑date with automotive technology developments; attend relevant training as needed.
- Identify required spare parts; check stock, order as required.
- Ensure parts used are of correct quality and fit.
- Minimise wastage; ensure parts are stored safely.
Qualification & experience
Skills & Qualifications
- Certificate III in Automotive Mechanical Technology (or equivalent qualification).
- Tradesperson Automotive – Mechanical license preferred.
- Proven 1 year of experience as a motor mechanic, especially servicing, diagnostics, and repair of petrol/diesel light vehicles.
- Strong knowledge of tyre fitting, balancing, wheel alignment.
- Proficiency with up-to-date diagnostic tools / software.
- Understanding of safety practices, workshop best practice.
- Excellent communication skills – both with team members and customers.
- Good problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage time, and meet deadlines.
