The Chance

Gambier Earth Movers are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Laboratory Technician to join our Mount Gambier team. This hands‑on role is suited to someone who thrives in both laboratory and field environments and who is committed to upholding exceptional standards of testing accuracy, safety, and client service.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct a full range of construction materials testing (CMT) in the field and laboratory, including soils, aggregates, concrete, rock, and other materials.
- Prepare and test soil, aggregate, and concrete samples in line with relevant Australian Standards.
- Liaise with onsite personnel to coordinate testing schedules, procedures, and results while professionally representing the GEM brand.
- Perform routine equipment maintenance, quality checks, and calibrations in accordance with company procedures.




- Ensure the accuracy and timely delivery of results to meet client and project requirements.
- Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols and industry regulations.

About You – Skills & Experience

You will be successful in this role if you:

- Have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in the Construction Materials Testing industry.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to quality assurance and workplace safety.
- Are physically fit and capable of performing manual labour, including heavy lifting.
- Can work effectively under pressure, balancing priorities to meet client deadlines.
- Have sound experience in both field and laboratory CMT testing to Australian standards or be motivated to start a career in CMT.
- Work well autonomously, showing initiative and self‑motivation.
- Can perform a range of testing tasks across soils, aggregates, concrete, rock and other materials.
- Have demonstrated experience in laboratory and field testing in soils/aggregates/concrete to AS1289, AS1141, AS1012.
- Understand NATA ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.
- Are a NATA‑approved Signatory (highly advantageous).
- Ideally hold a current NDM Radiation Licence (highly advantageous).
- Hold a current driver’s licence.
