CVGT has a fantastic career opportunity for a business trainee to work at YO Bendigo (City of Greater Bendigo). The successful applicant will be given the opportunity to expand their current skillset, while working towards and completing their Traineeship.

YO Bendigo empowers young people aged 12 - 25 in Greater Bendigo by providing a variety of skills, engagement and development opportunities. Through their participation, young people can develop leadership and technical skills, attain micro-credentials, apply their creativity, volunteer and network. YO Bendigo delivers youth-led projects such as the Youth Council, the Ambedo magazine, YO events, workshops, and other activities for young people in Greater Bendigo.
To be the successful applicant for this position you will need to be passionate about administration, communications, and engaging with young people. You will have excellent attention to detail and take pride in everything you do; you will also need to be a team player who understands the importance of teamwork but also the ability to work individually and show initiative, be prepared to learn, and be prepared to work hard and go the extra mile.
The successful applicant will have the ability and commitment to maintain confidentiality, and to communicate clearly and positively with staff, volunteers, suppliers/contractors, young people and the public; especially when dealing with enquires and complaints requiring a sensitive, flexible and effective response.
You will also have excellent written and verbal skills, the ability to learn a range of administration and communication tasks including, email correspondence, administration support, social media scheduling, uploading website content,
and other office responsibilities. Someone who is computer savvy and can easily adapt to using a range of computer systems, software and programs would be looked on favourably. This position will also give you the opportunity to tap into your artistic and digital creativity. Recent school leavers are encouraged to apply.
Duties to learn then perform will include but not be limited to :
- Plan and organise own work.
- Provide administrative support within the YO Bendigo Team.
- Respond to internal and external customer enquiries.
- Monitor and allocate queries received in the YO Bendigo mailbox.
- Prepare and collate written documents such as agendas and minutes.
- Assist in the preparation of publications and promotional materials.
- Design and produce digital materials.
- Internal filing and registration of documents into the records management system, ECM.
- Purchase goods and services.
- Raise and deliver Purchase Orders and Sundry payments.
- Assist the Team with Work Health and Safety (WHS) and noticeboard maintenance.
- Communicate with team members, volunteers, and young people that are in the workplace.
- Update the YO Bendigo website and social media channels.
- Publish the YO Bendigo E-newsletter.
- Assist with managing volunteers’ records via the volunteer management system Better Impact.
- Assist with the organisation of YO Bendigo events.
- Assist the Team with engaging with young people.
You may also be provided with opportunities to learn about other services and departments within the City of Greater Bendigo and the use of other administrative programs and systems.
At the end of the one-year traineeship, you may (dependent on manager approval) be offered the chance to complete a second year of the traineeship and undertake Certificate IV in Business.
