Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I;) Technician

About the Project
The Port Kembla Energy Terminal will strengthen Australia’s energy security as the nation’s first LNG import terminal. You’ll join an experienced operations team supported globally and committed to safe, compliant and efficient site performance.
About the Role
As an Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I;) Technician, you’ll carry out day‑to‑day maintenance tasks across the terminal’s electrical and instrumentation equipment. Working under supervision, you’ll perform preventive and corrective maintenance, diagnose faults, and help keep equipment operating safely and efficiently.
You’ll also oversee contractors and vendors when required, ensuring work is completed safely and in accordance with site procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive, corrective and breakdown maintenance on electrical and instrumentation systems.
- Conduct inspections, testing, repairs and adjustments to maintain equipment reliability.
- Follow all site safety and permit‑to‑work requirements when completing tasks.
- Update maintenance records and work orders in the CMMS (SAP).
- Assist with maintenance planning, spare parts identification and job preparation.
- Support commissioning and troubleshooting activities on PLCs, DCS, SCADA and control systems.
Skills and Experience
- Relevant trade qualification in Electrical Instrumentation or similar discipline.
- Electrical licence with capability to work on LV/MV systems.
- 3‑5 years of experience in electrical and instrumentation maintenance.
- Practical knowledge of field instrumentation, PLCs, DCS and SCADA systems.
- Understanding of hazardous area equipment, isolations and safe work systems.
- Experience using a CMMS (Desired).
- Strong teamwork, communication and a proactive, hands‑on work style.
