We're on the hunt for a passionate and experienced Head Chef to lead our kitchen team and drive the culinary direction of our venue in the beautiful town of Airlie Beach! The successful candidate will be creative, organised, a good communicator and confident running a busy kitchen while maintaining exceptional food quality and consistency. Our candidate will bring a minimum of 2 years’ leadership experience as a Head Chef or Sous Chef, with proven ability to manage a busy kitchen and consistently deliver high-quality dishes.
Key Responsibilities
- Hire, lead, train, and develop kitchen staff to ensure high performance and a positive team culture
- Oversee daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, service, and workflow management
- Create and maintain seasonal menus, specials, and recipes that reflect the venue’s style
- Ensure all dishes leaving the kitchen meet presentation and quality standards
- Manage stock control, ordering, costings, and supplier relationships
- Maintain compliance with food safety, hygiene, and OH&S; regulations
- Ensure equipment is being maintained and functional.
- Monitor and manage food and labour costs to meet budget targets
- Work closely with management to plan events, functions, and menu development
- Ensure the kitchen is clean, organised, and operating efficiently at all times
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Head Chef, Sous Chef
- Strong culinary knowledge and passion for high-quality food
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with rostering, budgeting, and ordering
- Knowledge and implementation of strict food safety standards
- Creativity and a commitment to continuous improvement
