We have an exciting chance for a Public Art Project Officer to join our Blacktown Arts team on a term contract, part‑time basis for up to 12 months.

The Public Art Project Officer will coordinate and project manage Council’s Public Art, overseeing the implementation of City‑wide strategies and public art projects. The position is customer‑focused, providing exceptional service to artists, contractors, community and internal Council stakeholders.

Duties for the role include

- Commissioning new public art projects that are relevant to place and community
- Developing project briefs and reports
- Contract and licensing management
- Building and fostering strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Advising on the development, display, management and maintenance of public art

Qualifications and experience

- Tertiary level qualification in arts administration/management, education or appropriate area or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated skills and experience in delivering temporary and permanent public art
- Demonstrated experience in the design, production and/or project management of public art projects
- Proven capacity to work in a high‑pressure team environment with competing demands and concurrent projects
- Demonstrated capacity to work productively with artists and communities from a range of cultural backgrounds




- Experience in partnership programmes and stakeholder management
- Excellent writing skills for a wide variety of audiences and media
- High level computer literacy, especially in Microsoft Office suite
- Demonstrated commitment to excellent customer service
- Working with Children Check
- Knowledge of project management systems skills and methodology
- Current class C driver’s licence
- Knowledge of industry networks throughout the arts, cultural and creative industries sector

Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

- Entry level for this position starts at $1,861.14 per week, pro‑rata
- Employee benefits such as leave entitlements (where applicable), 12% employer contribution payable to your nominated superannuation fund, Fitness Passport, gym membership discounts and social clubs
