The Place Branch is a team of passionate people who design, plan, and advocate for the creation and maintenance of the Toowoomba Region's vibrant, inclusive, liveable places.

Our core business is Planning, Landscape, Architecture, Certification and Environment - all fundamental to excellent design outcomes.

Assist in capitalising on the Toowoomba Region's physical, cultural, and social identities to inspire and harness social capital and influence positive outcomes for major projects and development proposals.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the Manager Place, you'll oversee the formulation, review and maintenance of land use and development strategies, policies and related supporting documentation that moves the Toowoomba community toward our vision of being a vibrant, inclusive and liveable region.

Leading a small team, you'll work in collaboration with project managers and technical specialists to guide the ongoing management of the Toowoomba Region's Planning Scheme and achievement of Council's corporate objectives.

Who We're Looking For





A degree-qualified urban or regional planning professional with extensive experience in delivering strategic / policy-based projects.

Demonstrated experience leading high-performing, multi-disciplinary project teams.

Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to negotiate agreed actions and outcomes with stakeholders.

Demonstrated ability to contribute to cultural change across the organisation and to develop, coach, motivate and support staff to achieve corporate outcomes.

Demonstrated ability to formulate strategy and policy and draft planning instruments that achieve ecological sustainability.

Excellent project management skills with a demonstrated ability to develop, coordinate and manage projects effectively and to achieve quality and timely outcomes.

High level problem solving, research, and analytical skills with the ability to interpret information and make recommendations.

Demonstrated ability to make sound judgements and decisions about the effective delivery of major projects while implementing Council policy, procedures, work practices, and delegations.

A personal alignment with Council's values, particularly the value of teamwork.

What We Offer

A permanent full-time position based in the Toowoomba CBD.

The salary range for this position is $123,

- $138,
- gross per annum, plus 17.5% annual leave loading and up to
- % superannuation.
