Bean Origin is a family-owned cafe known for serving quality coffee and a menu that includes café favourites and burgers in a welcoming environment. We are seeking a skilled and reliable Cook to join our Belconnen team.
Position Overview
As a Cook at Bean Origin Belconnen, you will prepare, cook, and present menu items to a high standard while maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient kitchen. You’ll work in a fast-paced cafe setting supporting all-day dining service.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items consistently and to venue standards (breakfast, brunch and cafe meals).
- Monitor ingredient quality and freshness; follow correct storage and rotation procedures.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely, including ovens, grills, and prep equipment.
- Maintain portion control, plating presentation, and service speed during peak periods.
- Support menu preparation, daily specials, and ingredient estimation as required.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, cleaning schedules, and workplace standards.
- Assist with training and guidance of junior kitchen staff where required.
Skills & Experience Required
- Minimum 1–2 years’ experience as a Cook in a cafe/restaurant setting.
- Strong knowledge of food safety and kitchen hygiene practices.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and manage time during busy service.
- Good communication skills and a team-focused attitude.
- Availability to work weekends, public holidays, and peak periods as needed.
