Base pay range

A$126,857.00/yr - A$143,093.00/yr

The Role

CTT is a dynamic operational environment and requires analysts and team leaders who are adaptable, innovative and able to respond to changing operational requirements. The branch’s Signals Intelligence Analysts are responsible for performing complex research, analysis and operational tasks to support the collection, production and dissemination of signals intelligence; and, providing technical advice within an integrated civilian and military workforce. EL1 Signals Intelligence Managers are responsible for leading and managing a team of Signals Intelligence Analysts, developing and maintaining good working relationships with both domestic and international partners, and managing operational priorities.

This recruitment activity is seeking to identify suitably qualified candidates as Signals Intelligence Managers and Signals Intelligence Analysts. While both are EL1 positions, the requirements for each are inherently different. Candidates are encouraged to indicate which role they are applying for in their application.

Key Duties

- Accountable for leading a team, managing allocated resources, setting work area priorities, managing workflows, developing strategies and evaluating business outcomes.
- Accountable for managing and leading a team, including providing clear and consistent communication, setting clear performance and behavioural standards, managing performance, delegating responsibility and guiding and developing people.
- Accountable for accurate completion of work within timeframes and quality requirements, share own expertise with others and provide opportunities to develop team members.
- Accountable for the maintenance and accuracy of files and records within information systems in relation to business decisions and intelligence functions.
- Accountable for the production of signals intelligence, complying with legislative, policy and security frameworks, including adherence to signals intelligence production standards.
- Is innovative in managing the development of business process for the production of signals intelligence.




- Is innovative and makes recommendations to develop information communication technology capabilities in order to manage the production of signals intelligence.
- Represent the Australian Signals Directorate and work collaboratively with stakeholders to manage expectations, provide advice and influence outcomes.
- Advocate and encourage effective relationships within and across teams by leading team-work and group activities.
- Prioritise and endorse the team's research, analysis, transcription and translation of collected data and information to produce signals intelligence tailored to customer requirements.
- Prioritise and endorse the team's use of collected data and information to develop further collection, processing and analysis to support future mission outcomes.
- Lead and develop signals intelligence analysis or production and provide specialised guidance across the signals intelligence enterprise.
- Accountable to produce signals intelligence, whilst complying with legislative, policy and security frameworks, including adherence to signals intelligence production standards.
- Is innovative and makes a leading contribution to the development of signals intelligence analysis methodologies, reporting, skill development and business processes across the signals intelligence enterprise.
- Identify requirements for the development of information communication technology systems and coordinate corporate capability development to support signals intelligence analysis and production.
- Represent the Australian Signals Directorate and work collaboratively with stakeholders to manage expectations, provide specialist advice and influence outcomes.
- Motivate and mentor analysts within specialist streams, aligning complementary skills in a manner that delivers results.
- Investigate and prioritise specialist research, analysis, transcription and translation of collected data and information to produce signals intelligence tailored to customer requirements.
- Evaluate, interpret and make recommendations on collected data and information to develop further collection, processing and analysis to support future mission outcomes.
- Manage the allocation of resources against activities in accordance with corporate guidance and plan for optimal business outcomes.

About our Team

In Counter‑Terrorism and Transnational Branch (CTT), you will be part of a rewarding mission dedicated to protecting Australia’s interests from a range of transnational threats. CTT is an agile,



distributed team made up of civilian and military staff, which is driven by delivering real‑world impact. Successful candidates will use creative approaches to solve intelligence problems, and work with domestic and foreign partners to achieve the mission.

Successful candidates may be considered for similar positions in other branches of ASD. ASD has several multi‑disciplinary, integrated teams that conduct signals intelligence in support of multiple missions, including in‑depth technical signals intelligence analysis of complex foreign military capabilities in support of Australian Defence Force and National Security requirements.
