The Role

The Industry Regulation and Consumer Protection Legal Division is responsible for providing legal advice to Departmental clients that is accurate, timely and solution focused.

- Advise on the interpretation and application of legislation administered by the Department.
- Conducting straightforward litigation, for example as trial counsel with a focus on Industry Regulation and Consumer Protection, Building and Energy, and Labour Relations.
- Providing high quality, relevant and accurate legal advice, with appropriate supervision conducting criminal prosecutions.
- Appearing as counsel and representing the Department.
- Preparing a variety of legal documents.

Qualifications and Licenses

- Degree in Law.




- Current Australian practising certificate that enables the holder to engage in legal practice as a government legal practitioner or eligible to obtain one prior to commencement of employment.
