Part-time Nurses /Research Assistants to conduct health assessments
What we do:
The Busselton Health Study Centre is located in Busselton and for the last 60 years has conducted detailed clinical assessments on over 30,000 adults and children as part of one of the longest running health surveys in the world.
The data is used for a range of medical research projects by clinicians and researchers from Australia's leading universities and health service providers.
What does the role involve?
Join a friendly supportive team of experienced nurses, researchers and over 20 community volunteers who assist with our surveys.
You will work one-on-one with study participants from the Busselton community who are aged ***** years and taking part in our current survey on healthy ageing.
You will guide them through a clinical protocol conducting over 16 different clinical assessments as well as questionnaires collecting health data for medical research.
What clinical assessments will I learn?

You will become proficient in phlebotomy & sample collection, cognitive & sensory testing, cardiovascular assessments (ECGs, ankle brachial index, pulse oximetry), allergy testing, respiratory (spirometry and lung function) testing, fundus photography and eye assessments, audiometry and ear assessments, body composition and bone density scanning, and sleep apnoea screening.
Full training in all procedures will be provided, and you will be mentored by a supportive and friendly team of experienced nurses.
What hours are available?
- No night shifts & school friendly hours!
We are seeking team players with excellent inter-personal skills, attention to detail and a "can-do" outlook to fill part-time positions (25 hrs FTE per week).
5-hour shifts commencing at 7.00 am or 9.30 am.
Candidates must be able to work 5 days a week Monday to Friday.
$40 per hour, fixed-term contract with generous salary packaging perks.
Positions are for up to 12 months initially with continuation or increase in hours subject to future grant funding.
The roles suit nursing or health science graduates with experience in working compassionately one-on-one with patients/clients.
