Kensington Community Children's Co-operative (KCCC) is a parent managed co-operative offering long day care and kindergarten. As a business, the centre turns over more than $5 million per year and employs approximately 80 staff, including casual relief staff. KCCC is licensed for 166 places, including sessional and integrated kindergarten groups.

Description

About the position: The Child Safety Practice Partner is a new fixed term 12 month role reporting to the Educational Leader. This is an onsite, hands-on role working with the Educational Leader to design and implement Child Safe programs to embed evidence-informed practices, professional learning, pedagogical strategies and assessment techniques within the curriculum. The position plays a key role in ensuring that KCCC maintains a strong, proactive, and embedded culture of child safety. Some of the key tasks include:

- Develop Child Protected Policies and Practices and coach the team to implement these.
- Facilitation of coaching sessions, practice learning and development sessions, reflective practice sessions, and implement continuous improvement ideas.
- Ensure team members understand and follow child safety policies, reporting procedures, Code of Conduct, and record-keeping expectations.
- Observe practice, conduct room and outdoor walk-throughs, and recommend improvements to ensure environments uphold physical and psychological safety.
- Support educators to confidently meet mandatory reporting, reportable conduct, and internal reporting requirements.
- Provide mentoring, coaching and professional development to education teams to build their professional knowledge and practice in regard to child safety.
- Liaise with and attend meetings as required with Kindergarten Improvement Advisors and SRF menu providers.




- Participate in or lead conversations with parents when child safety issues or patterns of concern arise.
- Act as a key contact for child safety concerns, allegations, or disclosures.
- Support staff and the General Manager in documenting incidents and assessing risks.
- Making notifications to Child Protection, Police, or CCS/ECS as required.

About you: We are seeking an expert in Child Safe Standards in an Early Years Sector environment. You will also be able to demonstrate:

- A thorough knowledge of the theory of early childhood development and education, and the ability to translate theoretical knowledge into practice.
- A thorough knowledge of the Education and Care Services National Law Act 2010 and the Education and Care Services National Regulations 2013.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Victorian Early Years Learning Framework or an approved Early Years learning framework.
- Knowledge and understanding of the National Quality Standards.
- A thorough knowledge of the Victorian Child Safety Standards and Trauma Informed Practice
- Experience in developing, implementing and evaluating early childhood care and education programs for individuals and groups of children, including the keeping of appropriate records.
- A well developed understanding of child development and family-centred practice.
- Well-developed communication skills.
- Intermediate Computer literacy skills
- Experience working inclusively with children who have additional needs.
- Experience working inclusively with children and families from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds with knowledge of a range of culturally relevant program resources and learning.
- Experience in coaching and mentoring
