The Role

Reporting to the Manager Construction & Maintenance, you will lead a team of Technical Officers responsible for specialist engineering assessments, statutory approvals, asset management support and civil infrastructure investigations.

This newly established leadership position plays a critical part in strengthening Council’s technical capability, improving consistency, and ensuring high-quality engineering outcomes for the community.

Key areas of focus include:

- Leading, mentoring and developing a high-performing Technical Services team.

- Providing expert engineering advice to stakeholders, consultants, contractors and government agencies.
- Developing and maintaining Quality Assurance systems, policies, technical procedures and reporting frameworks.

This role directly contributes to community outcomes by improving safety, asset performance and engineering governance across the shire.

About You

We’re seeking a collaborative and technically strong engineering leader with:

- Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) or equivalent, and RPEQ (or the ability to obtain it).
- Demonstrated experience in Local Government engineering, infrastructure planning or civil operations.
- Strong capability in leading technical teams and fostering a positive, accountable culture.
- High-level communication and stakeholder engagement skills across internal and external environments.
- Excellent organisational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands.
- Experience working within political, community-facing or regulatory environments.
