Senior Community Development Officer (Recreation And Community Spaces)

Community Development Team
Part of the Community Services Directorate, Community Development makes an integral contribution to the social, cultural, and economic development of our community. We achieve this through engaging with the local community to build social capital, facilitate capacity building, and a sense of community pride and belonging within the Town. The team works collaboratively with other business units, as well as community groups and organisations, schools, sport and recreation clubs, and members of the community to facilitate programs and activities that benefit the community such as senior services, disability access and inclusion, club development, and events.
Role
The Senior Community Development Officer (Recreation and Community Spaces) provides coordination of the management and delivery of services for the Town’s community facilities, venues, parks and reserves, including bookings and external events, and advising and assisting event organisers and members of the community relating to Town policies, and safety requirements. The role also supports local sport and recreation clubs to enhance their capacity, sustainability, and community impact,
and provides high-level support to the Coordinator Community Development and Community Development team in shaping direction, service standards, and quality outcomes. Apply now.

Selection Criteria
The successful candidate’s core values will mirror the Town’s values of Friendly and helpful, Teamwork, Creativity, Integrity, and Respect, and be able to demonstrate the following:
- Previous experience in managing the hire of community facilities, parks and sports grounds and working with sport and recreation clubs.
- Demonstrated experience in stakeholder management.
- Proven ability to provide a high-quality of customer service within defined budget, organisation policy, and protocol requirements.
- High-level communication skills and the ability to negotiate to resolve problems that may arise.
- Demonstrated supervisory, time management and organisational skills, with the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Robust information technology skills, including demonstrated knowledge and experience in accurate operation of various computer applications such as Microsoft Office suite, customer management systems and document management systems.
- Experience with online facility management systems is desirable.
- A qualification in Event Management, Sport and Recreation, or Community Development is desirable.
- Knowledge of Local Government procedures is highly desirable.
- Right to work in Australia (birth certificate, current passport or current visa).
- Must have the ability to perform moderate manual handling duties.
- Current National Police Certificate (no older than 3 months).
