We are seeking a Development Compliance Officer to join the Statutory Planning team on a permanent full‑time basis. You will undertake field inspections, investigate breaches of the City’s Planning Scheme and approvals granted under the Scheme, the Building Act, Local Government Act and other relevant legislation, provide advice and ensure compliance with town planning and building legislation, council guidelines and policies.
The Development Compliance Officer will have considerable interaction with other sections of the organisation and liaise with Development Services staff to ensure organisational outcomes are achieved efficiently and effectively. The Officer will also interact with ratepayers and members of the public on the telephone, email and face‑to‑face.
Key Accountabilities
- Undertake and report on field inspections in relation to town planning and building legislation, council guidelines and policies.
- Interpret information and data and prepare reports, correspondence and agenda items as required on matters related to areas of responsibility.
- Interpret policies and legislation and carry out statutory functions in accordance with delegated authority.
- Contribute to the development of continuous improvement in the section.
- Undertake special projects and initiatives as directed.
- Undertake routine risk assessments of premises using City of Swan procedures and methodologies.
- Deal with sensitive statutory and confidential issues.
- Undertake risk assessments, audits or other inspections.
About You
- Relevant tertiary qualification or relevant work experience.
- Work effectively as a member of a team.
- Deal directly and promptly with all customers in a professional and responsive manner.
- White Card.
- A satisfactory National Police Certificate is required.

The salary for this position will be from $94,386.53 to $112,499.22 per annum, depending on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.
