This is a temporary part time role (21 hours per week) for 12 months.
About the role
The Aboriginal Liaison Officer is a pivotal role within the Community and Recreation Services Directorate, specifically in the Community Development section. This position is responsible for implementing initiatives that align with the First Nations Accord, aimed at achieving meaningful outcomes for the Aboriginal community on the Central Coast.
Key Duties
Provide professional advice, support and information to Central Coast Council (CCC), the local Aboriginal community and Indigenous service providers to enable the provision of effective culturally appropriate policy, planning, services, programmes and activities to meet the needs of Aboriginal people.
Deliver on the key accountabilities outlined in the First Nations Accord in collaboration with key external stakeholders.
Contribute to the development and review of policies, codes and procedures for CCC and external services in relation to Aboriginal matters.
Coordinate and maintain culturally appropriate relationships throughout the region and provide advice and information on local Aboriginal issues to deliver on the key commitments of the First Nations Accord.
Ideal Candidate Profile
We are seeking a dedicated professional who possesses a deep understanding of local Aboriginal community needs. The ideal candidate will be capable of navigating complex community dynamics while effectively advocating for Aboriginal interests.
Degree in Social Sciences, Community Services, or a related field, or substantial relevant experience.
Proven ability to establish and maintain relationships with Aboriginal communities and service providers.
Robust experience in stakeholder management and conflict resolution.
Current Class C Driver's Licence and Working with Children Check.
The successful candidate will demonstrate adaptability,



strong interpersonal skills, and a commitment to achieving work goals while maintaining a focus on quality customer service.

Other important information
The commencing salary for this position is up to $***** per hour. Central Coast Council also provides progression opportunities for employees to progress up to the maximum salary of $***** per hour on completion of assessment of skills and performance plus 12% superannuation.
We have a temporary part-time role (21 hours per week) available.
We are able to offer hybrid and flexible working conditions for this role.
This role is located at the Wyong Administration Building.
Council may create an eligibility list from this recruitment process and may utilise this eligibility list to fill other permanent or temporary vacancies.
